If you searched for an apartment for rent rama 4, the first thing to know is that Rama IV is a long road, and the rent depends on which end of it you mean. Our six furnished homes filed under Rama 4 sit at the eastern end, 900 metres from BTS Phra Khanong, from ฿46,600 a month. Near the Lumpini Park end, the cheapest home we let starts at ฿85,700.
All of them are furnished and let by the calendar month, with a one-month minimum and no platform or booking fees, so the price you see is the rent. This guide sets the two ends side by side: what each costs, what the money gets you, and how you get from one to the other.
Rama IV Road runs east from Hua Lamphong, past Sam Yan, along the southern edge of Lumpini Park and through Khlong Toei, out to Phra Khanong. People write it Rama 4 or Rama IV, and listings use both. The western half has the MRT Blue Line underneath it, so its stations are on the road itself:
East of Khlong Toei there is no train under the road. Our Rama 4 homes rely on BTS Phra Khanong, on the Sukhumvit Line, 900 metres away. That walk is a large part of why the rent is low, and it is the first thing to weigh.
| Area | From | Character | Nearest station |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phra Khanong end, filed under Rama 4, 6 homes | ฿46,600 | A studio to a 180 m² three-bedroom, all in one building | BTS Phra Khanong 900 m |
| By Lumpini Park, filed under Lumpini, 6 homes | ฿85,700 | From a 55 m² one-bedroom to a 350 m² penthouse | MRT Si Lom 500 m, BTS Sala Daeng 700 m |
| By MRT Lumphini, filed under Central Bangkok, 3 homes | ฿124,700 | Serviced, one to three bedrooms | MRT Lumphini 850 m, BTS Sala Daeng 1.1 km |
| Sathon side of Si Lom station, 2 homes | ฿170,100 | A full-service flat and a serviced penthouse | MRT Si Lom 900 m, BTS Sala Daeng 850 m |
That is seventeen homes in two clusters: six at the eastern end and eleven within a walk of the MRT stations by Lumpini Park. We let nothing in between, around Khlong Toei. The gap in starting rent is ฿39,100 a month, which over six months comes to ฿234,600.
Starting prices are not a fair fight, though. At the eastern end the cheapest home is a studio; by the park it is a one-bedroom. The useful comparison is like for like, and it comes after a look at what the eastern end actually has.
The six share one building on Rama IV Road, with a swimming pool, a gym, a lift and free parking. Every flat has air conditioning, a kitchen with a stove, a washing machine, a bathtub and Wi-Fi. They are:
For the studio and the one-bedrooms, housekeeping comes six times a week, the linen is changed twice a week, and electricity and water are included. The listings for the two larger flats do not spell this out, so ask before you book. The full breakdown of all six, flat by flat, is in our guide to the six Rama IV homes.
The fairest comparison is one bedroom against one bedroom. At the eastern end, the cheapest is a 70 m² one-bedroom at ฿65,500. By Lumpini Park, the cheapest is a 55 m² one-bedroom suite at ฿85,700, 500 metres from MRT Si Lom.
| Home | From | Character | Nearest station |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 BR, 70 m², 2 guests, Rama 4 | ฿65,500 | Housekeeping six times a week; full kitchen; electricity and water included | BTS Phra Khanong 900 m |
| 1 BR, 55 m², 2 guests, Lumpini | ฿85,700 | Housekeeping three times a week; kitchenette; electricity and water included | MRT Si Lom 500 m, BTS Sala Daeng 700 m |
The eastern flat is 15 m² bigger, cleaned twice as often and has a proper kitchen, for ฿20,200 a month less. That works out at about ฿936 a square metre against about ฿1,558. Over a six-month stay the difference is ฿121,200.
What the Lumpini flat buys is the location and the building. It is in a 27-storey block with two swimming pools, a sauna, a library and an all-day restaurant, the park is a short walk away, and the train is 400 metres closer, with two lines to choose from instead of one.
On Rama IV, ฿65,500 a month buys a 70 m² one-bedroom at the Phra Khanong end. By Lumpini Park, ฿85,700 buys one of 55 m².
The bigger the flat, the smaller the eastern end's advantage. At two bedrooms the ends draw level: our 120 m² flat on Rama 4 and a 130 m² flat in Lumpini are both ฿107,100 a month.
At three bedrooms the eastern end loses. Our 180 m² three-bedroom on Rama 4 is ฿151,200. By Lumpini Park, a 160 m² three-bedroom listed with a sky view is ฿119,700, 500 metres from MRT Si Lom. That is ฿31,500 a month less for 20 m² less floor space, with a shorter walk to the train. For one person or a couple, the eastern end is the cheaper choice; for a family that needs three bedrooms, it is not.
Plenty of people who search for Rama 4 work at its western end, in the offices around Sam Yan, Si Lom and Lumphini. From the Rama 4 homes there are two ways in by train, and both start with the 900-metre walk to BTS Phra Khanong:
A taxi straight along Rama IV saves the change of line, but puts you in the road's rush-hour traffic. Routes, fares and first and last trains are on the BTS website and the MRT website run by BEM.
If your office is at the western end and you go in five days a week, count that journey before you take the cheaper flat. If you work from home, or your office is along the Sukhumvit Line, the walk to Phra Khanong is the main thing you give up.
If the park end is the one for you, our guide to renting near Lumpini Park explains which gate and which station each building is closest to. For the eastern end, see the six Rama 4 homes, choose the size that fits, and send us your dates and how many people are moving in. The minimum stay is one calendar month, and there are no platform or booking fees on top of the rent.

Yes, along its western half. The MRT Blue Line runs under Rama IV Road with stations at Hua Lamphong, Sam Yan, Si Lom, Lumphini and Khlong Toei. East of Khlong Toei there is none, so our Rama 4 homes use BTS Phra Khanong.
Take the BTS four stops west to Asok, change to the MRT at Sukhumvit and ride four stops south to Si Lom. Or stay on the BTS to Siam and change to the Silom Line for Sala Daeng, which links to Si Lom.
For the studio and the three one-bedrooms, yes, along with housekeeping six times a week. For the two-bedroom and three-bedroom flats, ask us before you book, as their listings do not say.
