A residential condominium tower beside the elevated BTS Skytrain track in Bangkok's On Nut district in late afternoon, with a swimming pool on a landscaped podium deck and a train passing on the viaduct.

If you searched for a condo for rent On Nut Bangkok, the short answer is four furnished homes around BTS On Nut, from ฿54,200 a month. Three are 350 metres from On Nut station; the fourth is 550 metres from Bang Chak, the next stop east. All four are let by the calendar month, with a one-month minimum and no platform or booking fees.

The flats differ in size, but the differences that shape a month are often in the building and the service around them: whether the washing machine is in your kitchen or on the ground floor, whether the electricity has a stated cap, and what the gym is like. This guide sets out what each condo's building and service give you, so you can choose on more than the floor plan.

What comes with all four

Whichever of the four you choose, the same core service is written into every listing. These come with the rent:

In practice this means your first week is not spent finding a cleaner, buying bed linen or setting up utility accounts. You arrive with a suitcase, and the flat is already running. For a stay of one to six months, that is most of the reason to rent a serviced condo rather than an empty one.

Where the four buildings differ

Read the listing descriptions side by side and real differences appear. These are the ones that change daily life:

Choose by the washing machine and the electricity cap, not only by the number of bedrooms.

The flats themselves, briefly

The 38 m² one-bedroom at ฿54,200 is the cheapest of the four. It has a separate bedroom with a queen-size bed, a living area with a sofa and dining table, a private balcony and a kitchenette with a stove for light cooking.

The duplex loft near Bang Chak costs ฿2,500 a month more, at ฿56,700, and is a different kind of space: 35 m² over two levels, with large soundproof glass panels, skyline views, a dedicated work area and a fully equipped kitchen. If you work from home, the work area and the washing machine in the flat are what that extra ฿2,500 buys.

The 2 BR at ฿60,500 is 56 m², with a queen bed in one room, a single bed in the other, two full bathrooms, a small workstation and a balcony with city views. It costs ฿6,300 a month more than the 38 m² one-bedroom, and that buys a second bedroom and a second bathroom. Two people sharing it pay ฿30,250 each.

The 3 BR duplex at ฿103,300 is 72 m² and sleeps six, with three bathrooms, a private living room, a kitchenette with a dining table, a bathtub, a coffee machine and its own washing machine. It is the only one of the four with room for a family.

Bills: included, but ask about the cap

All four rents include electricity and water, but only the loft puts a number on it. Power in Bangkok is supplied by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, and in a Bangkok flat it is the air conditioning that moves the meter, most of all in the hot months from March to May. A small flat with the air conditioning running all night uses far less than a three-bedroom duplex with every room cooled. Before you book, ask:

Getting around from On Nut

On Nut and Bang Chak are both stations on the BTS Sukhumvit Line. From On Nut, Asok is five stops west, and there you can change to the MRT Blue Line at Sukhumvit station. Phra Khanong, Ekkamai, Thong Lo and Phrom Phong are on the way, so the restaurants of Thonglor and the malls by Phrom Phong are a short ride with no change.

From the three homes 350 metres from On Nut, the walk to the platform takes about five minutes. From the loft, Bang Chak is 550 metres away and one stop further out, which adds a few minutes to any trip into town. If you will commute every weekday, walk the route once at the hour you would really leave.
