A long, tree-lined side street off Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok in the late afternoon, with low shophouses, cafés and tall residential towers on both sides and a few motorbikes parked along the kerb.

If you are searching for an apartment for rent sukhumvit soi 26, here is the plain answer first: we do not let a home on Soi 26 itself. Our nearest homes are one soi west, in two buildings on Sukhumvit Soi 24, from ฿108,400 a month for two bedrooms. Three more sit on Soi 20, 300 metres from BTS Phrom Phong, from ฿98,300 for a one-bedroom.

All eight are on the same stretch of Sukhumvit, around the same BTS station, with housekeeping, electricity and water in the rent. What changes from one building to the next is the space you get for the money, whether breakfast and a shuttle are included, and how far you walk to the train. This guide sets them side by side so you can choose before you book a viewing.

Where Soi 26 sits, and why Soi 24 is the neighbour that matters

Sukhumvit's side streets are numbered by side of the road: even numbers run off the south side and odd numbers off the north. Soi 26 runs south from Sukhumvit Road a short walk east of BTS Phrom Phong. Soi 24 runs parallel to it, immediately to the west, starting close to the station.

These are long streets. Both of our Soi 24 buildings stand well down the soi, which is why they are listed 850 to 950 metres from Phrom Phong even though the soi itself begins near the station. If Soi 26 is where your office, your children's school or your friends are, the question is not just which soi a flat is on, but how far down it sits and which way you walk.

Soi 24, the first building: the most room for the rent

The first Soi 24 building has two of our homes, listed 950 metres from BTS Phrom Phong and 850 metres from MRT Queen Sirikit. Both include housekeeping three times a week, linen changed twice a week, and electricity and water. The building has a pool, a gym, a lift and free parking.

The smaller is a 58 m² two-bedroom on Soi 24 at ฿108,400 a month. It sleeps four, with a queen-size bed in one bedroom and two singles in the other, two bathrooms, a four-seat dining table and a washer-dryer. The larger is a 117 m² three-bedroom duplex at ฿176,400, with the living space downstairs and three bedrooms upstairs, each with a queen-size bed and its own bathroom, for up to six people.

Soi 24, the second building: breakfast and a shuttle to the BTS

The second building has three of our homes, listed 850 metres from BTS Phrom Phong and 1.1 km from MRT Queen Sirikit. On top of housekeeping three times a week, electricity and water, the rent includes a free shuttle to the BTS and breakfast for one guest each day. Downstairs there is a swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, an indoor golf simulator and a residents' lounge called The Den.

2 BR, 70 m², 4 guests฿163,800Second building; two bathrooms, one breakfast a dayBTS Phrom Phong 850 m · MRT Queen Sirikit 1.1 km

Two things stand out in that table. In the second building, the 45 m² one-bedroom and the 56 m² one-bedroom cost the same ฿119,700, so ask for the larger one if it is free on your dates. And across the two buildings, the 58 m² two-bedroom costs ฿11,300 a month less than either one-bedroom with breakfast.

On Soi 24 you are choosing between a second bedroom and a breakfast with a shuttle to the station. Work out which one you would use every day before you look at the photos.

Note too that the 70 m² two-bedroom sleeps four but includes one breakfast a day, not four. If you are a family or two couples, the breakfast is a small part of what you are paying for; the second bathroom and the shuttle matter more.

Closer to the station: three homes on Soi 20

If a short walk to the Skytrain matters more than being near Soi 26, look further west. One building on Soi 20 has three of our homes, listed 300 metres from BTS Phrom Phong, about three minutes on foot, and 1.5 km from MRT Queen Sirikit. Housekeeping comes three times a week with linen changed twice, electricity and water are included, and the building has an infinity pool, a sky lounge, a fitness centre and free parking.

The 40 m² one-bedroom on Soi 20 is the lowest rent of all eight homes in this guide, and the nearest to the BTS. It has no breakfast or shuttle, but at 300 metres from the station you will not need the shuttle.

Getting around from Soi 24 and Soi 20

Phrom Phong is on the BTS Sukhumvit Line, one stop east of Asok and one stop west of Thong Lo. At the lower end of Soi 24, Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre station is on the MRT Blue Line, one stop south of Sukhumvit station, where the Blue Line meets the BTS at Asok, and a few stops north of Lumphini and Si Lom.

The first Soi 24 building is the only one of the three that is nearer the MRT than the BTS. If you will ride the Blue Line most days, towards Si Lom or Lumphini, that can outweigh everything else in this guide.
