Search apartment for rent Bangkok 1 month and the results mix two things that have almost nothing in common: hotel rooms priced by the night with a monthly figure worked out at the end, and furnished apartments let on a calendar-month contract. This guide is about the second kind — a real flat, furnished, with a key of your own — and about what a single month of it costs in each part of central Bangkok.
One calendar month is the shortest stay we let, and it is the unit every price is quoted in, so a one-month booking is the ordinary case here rather than an exception someone has to make room for. Every figure below belongs to a real furnished home on our list. None of them is an average, a guide price, or a nightly rate multiplied by thirty.
A month is long enough that a hotel stops making sense and short enough that a normal Thai lease, usually written for a year, will not have you. The monthly let sits in between: a furnished apartment in a managed building, taken by the calendar month.
People take exactly one month for ordinary reasons: a project or a handover, a first month in the city while something longer is arranged, or a month spent walking around three neighbourhoods before committing to a year in one of them. The last of those is the most useful month anyone spends here.
Most people booking a single month want a studio or a one-bedroom, so the table below ignores the large family apartments and shows the cheapest studio or one-bedroom we currently let in each area, for one calendar month, furnished.
| area | from | note | station |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rama 4 | ฿46,600 | Modern studio, housekeeping and Wi-Fi included | BTS Phra Khanong 900 m |
| Thonglor | ฿51,700 | 32 m² high-rise condo at the quiet end of the road | BTS Thong Lo 1.4 km |
| On Nut | ฿54,200 | 38 m² one-bedroom, the cheapest separate bedroom on our list | BTS On Nut 350 m |
| Sukhumvit | ฿56,700 | 35 m² serviced duplex off Sukhumvit 48 | BTS On Nut 600 m |
| Ekkamai | ฿61,700 | 49 m² deluxe studio in a serviced building | BTS Phra Khanong 750 m |
| Asoke | ฿72,500 | 43 m² studio with a desk, beside the convention centre | MRT Queen Sirikit 1.0 km |
| Central Bangkok | ฿81,900 | Studio with a city view, five minutes' walk from the interchange | BTS Asok 500 m |
| Lumpini | ฿85,700 | 55 m² one-bedroom beside the park | BTS Sala Daeng 700 m |
Three entries are missing from that table because they carry no station distance on the listing, and a walk you cannot measure is not a fair comparison. Sukhumvit has a 35 m² studio off Sukhumvit 71 at ฿52,900 a month, below the ฿56,700 shown above. Sathon starts at ฿78,100 for a pet-friendly one-bedroom, and Rama 9 at ฿75,600 for a 52 m² studio loft. All three are worth a look if the commute you care about is by car rather than by rail.
The cheapest home on our list with a bedroom door is a 38 m² one-bedroom at On Nut, ฿54,200 a month, 350 m from BTS On Nut. It is a short list — four homes in that area — but it answers the question most people are really asking, which is how little a whole apartment costs for a month within a few minutes of the Skytrain.
Below that, the saving comes from losing the bedroom wall rather than the location. The Rama 4 studio at ฿46,600 includes housekeeping and Wi-Fi and sits 900 m from BTS Phra Khanong. A 70 m² one-bedroom in the same area, with the same walk, is ฿65,500. That is ฿18,900 a month for a door and roughly double the floor space.
The gap between a studio and a one-bedroom in the same building is almost always smaller than the gap between two areas.
Ekkamai shows it plainly. A 49 m² deluxe studio is ฿61,700 a month; the 80 m² one-bedroom in the same serviced block is ฿88,200. Same 750 m walk to BTS Phra Khanong, same building, ฿26,500 for 31 m² more and a proper bedroom.
Asoke moves in smaller steps. A 43 m² studio is ฿72,500 a month and the 50 m² lakeview studio in the same development is ฿81,000 — ฿8,500 for seven square metres and a view of Benchakitti Park. A serviced one-bedroom with a 200 Mbps line, 76 m², is ฿138,600, which is a different budget rather than an upgrade.
At Lumpini, where ten homes start at ฿85,700, the one-bedrooms sit close together: 39 m² at ฿86,900, 45 m² at ฿92,000, 48 m² at ฿94,500, all 500 m from BTS Phloen Chit. For a single month, the difference between the cheapest and the largest of those three is about ฿7,600 — less than most people expect for nine square metres in that part of town.
Entry prices across the ten areas we cover range from ฿46,600 to ฿85,700 a month. The cheaper end is not worse building stock; it is a longer walk, a quieter road, or a station further out along the same line.
For eight months of the year, 350 m and 1.4 km are two completely different walks in this city. Before you shortlist anything for a one-month stay, open the route map for the BTS Skytrain and the MRT, and find the line you will actually use on a Tuesday morning. The distance printed on a listing is worth more than any photograph of a lobby.
After the line, it is temperament rather than price: Sathon for quiet evenings, Thonglor and Ekkamai for cafés and late food, On Nut and Rama 4 for floor space, Lumpini for the park. If you are using the month to choose a district for a longer stay, the comparison of where to live in Bangkok goes through each one on commute, noise and daily life.
There is one piece of admin worth knowing about before you arrive. Thai law asks the owner or possessor of a property to notify the authorities when a foreign national stays there, and in practice the landlord or the building handles it — you are usually just asked for a copy of your passport at check-in. The rules are published by the Immigration Bureau. Whether you may stay for a month at all is a question for your own permission to enter the country, not for the apartment.
Work upwards from the entry prices in the table rather than downwards from the photographs, and decide the station before the square metres. A month is short enough that the walk to the train will define it more than the kitchen worktop will.
When you have two or three areas in mind, you can filter every furnished home we let by the month by area, size and price. The minimum stay is one calendar month, the number on the listing is the number you pay, and nothing is added at the end.
Yes. One calendar month is the minimum stay and the unit every rent is quoted in, so a single month is a normal booking rather than a special case. Stays of a few nights are a hotel's business and not something we let.
On our own list a one-bedroom starts at ฿54,200 a month for 38 m² at On Nut, 350 m from the BTS. Serviced one-bedrooms with housekeeping run from about ฿65,500 on Rama 4 and ฿88,200 in Ekkamai, and most central one-bedrooms settle between ฿85,000 and ฿140,000 depending on the area and the floor space.
The cheapest home on our list is a modern studio on Rama 4 at ฿46,600 a month, with housekeeping and Wi-Fi included and a 900 m walk to BTS Phra Khanong. Thonglor's far end starts at ฿51,700, upper Sukhumvit at ฿52,900 and On Nut at ฿54,200.
No platform fee and no booking fee is added to the rent. The monthly figure on the listing is the figure you pay, and what the building includes — housekeeping, breakfast, internet speed — is stated on that same listing.
If you are commuting into the centre daily, Asoke, Central Bangkok and Lumpini put you nearest the interchanges, from ฿72,500, ฿66,800 and ฿85,700 respectively. If the month is about space or budget, Rama 4, Thonglor's far end, upper Sukhumvit and On Nut start between ฿46,600 and ฿54,200, and the trade-off is the length of the walk to the station.
Every home is furnished and working on the day you arrive, including the kitchen, the washing machine and the Wi-Fi. Extras such as daily housekeeping, breakfast or a stated broadband speed vary building by building and are listed individually rather than implied by the word serviced.
